Today, the Medical Laboratory Technicians Personnel Association of PNG (MLTPA), after a long while, has decided to rejoin PEA as the Occupational Branch.
Today, the Medical Laboratory Technicians Personnel Association of PNG (MLTPA) after a long while have decided to rejoin PEA as Occupational Branch.
In a small but significant ceremony, PEA President Isowa More, in his welcome remarks, acknowledged the leadership of MLTPA President Ernest Velemu and his executive for their bold decision to rejoin PEA. 'I think currently, the union movement is fragmented and divided. We need to stay together. I am privileged to be part of this occasion. He has encouraged other small public sector unions to join PEA if they want to have a much bigger voice.
President of MLTPA Ernest Velemu, in his remark, says 'today marks a significant turning point for our profession. He says that after much consideration and discussion with PEA, we have agreed to become a professional branch of PEA. This is more than just a merger. He acknowledged this strategic alliance as it will amplify the voices of Medical Laboratory Professionals and get the recognition and support they deserve.
General Secretary for PEA Ugwalubu Mowana says this occasion marks PEA's second Occupational Branch over the last twelve months that have joined us. He thanked the President of MLTPA and his executive for having the trust, confidence, and foresight to stand in solidarity with PEA in advancing MLTPA members' interests. 'This will pave the way for negotiations, advocacy, and awards among other services that PEA can provide.
